Transient Dispersion in Uniform Media Flow
Analytical solutions are developed for the transient dispersion from a finite line source or a rectangular plane source in saturated steady uniform porous media flow. The sources are oriented normal to the flow with time-dependent concentrations. Longitudinal, lateral, transverse dispersion, radioactive decay, and linear equilibrium adsorption are considered. The solutions provide an efficient means of analyzing two or three-dimensional transient dispersion of nonconservative substances in uniform seepage. An example is given to depict the effects of decay and adsorption.
