A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This paper is a resume of a report by the Division of Civil Engineering of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, in which the theoretic stresses and deflections of manhole covers are compared with the values obtained by test.
A series of tests was made to determine the merits of the different designs and also to determine if a saving could be effected by using cast steel instead of cast iron.
