A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Combined Effort
Determining how to quickly design and construct three separate concrete bridges, each 1 km long or more, to link Abū aby’s (Abu Dhabi’s) new Khalifa Port Industrial Zone to two newly developed islands dedicated to port operations required a concerted effort on the part of engineers, contractors, and fabricators and resulted in three similar crossings that make the best use of both precast and cast-in-place elements. Design ingenuity, state-of-the-art precast-concrete technologies, and carefully coordinated marine operations ensured the expeditious erection of the bridges.
