Stochastic Generation of Monthly Streamflows
Two streamflow generation models are used to generate monthly flows for Australian streams. In one model, seasonalities and periodicities in the monthly flows are removed and the resulting weekly stationary series is modelled. The second approach uses the Thomas-Fiering monthly model. The results of these models are compared. A modified two-tier model is recommended for less variable streams and the method of fragments is recommended for highly variable streams.
