Coefficients for Velocity Distribution in Open-Channel Flow
Where it is necessary to take into consideration the nonuniform distribution of velocity of water flowing in open channels, it is customary to use the velocity head based on the mean velocity and a coefficient. This coefficient is fixed by the equation selected: It is the ratio of either the mean of the squares of the local velocities to the square of the mean, or the mean of the cubes of the local velocities to the cube of the mean velocity.
