A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
An experimental investigation of a surface buoyant jet is presented. The densimetric Froude number and the Reynolds number of the discharge channel were 3.6 and 33,000, respectively. Longitudinal and transverse velocities were measured by propellers and floating spheres and temperatures by thermistors. Measurements showed that the distributions of the longitudinal velocity in different cross sections were not similar. The same was observed for the density profiles. The influence of the damping effect on fluctuation measurements of the heat capacity of a thermistor and the resistance-capacity circuit in a propeller instrument are investigated. The fluctuation measurements are corrected according to the investigation.
