Digital Computers for Trial-Load Analysis of Arch Dams
Stress analysis of concrete dams is another of the ever-growing list of engineering problems that can be expedited by the use of electronic computers. The use of the “trial-load method” has been restricted due to the time-consuming, laborious computations that were required. The programming of many of these operations for an electronic computer results in a saving of time and costs, making this method of analysis more effective in the design of arch dams.
