In stress analysis of concrete dams use of "trial-load method" means time-consuming, laborious computations; programming of these operations for electronic computer results in saving of time and costs, making this method of analysis more effective in design of arch dams; table gives summary of arch data prepared for use in trial-load studies and amount of machine time which is required for each type of analysis.
