Mapping Global Research on the Construction Industrialization
In the recent years, industrialization has been changing the construction industry and attracted attention from both researchers and practitioners. However, few studies have attempted to map the global research on the industrialization of the construction industry. This study conducts a review of global construction industrialization research, 2,401 papers from the Web of Science SCI/SSCI database were collected and analyzed. The results indicated that the most significant research topics in construction industrialization research occurred primarily in (1) construction project, (2) building material, (3) system and component, (4) performance and behavior, (5) technological innovation, (6) construction process, and (7) construction method. The purpose of this paper is to make insights into certain characteristics of construction industrialization research and identify the global research hot topics and trends which provide a guideline for assist researchers and practitioners to establish future research directions.
