Deposition of Suspended Particles in a Gravel Bed
Silt particles moving in suspension in a flow over a clean gravel bed will deposit in this bed. In a uniform bed the probability of depositing at any place is proportional to the availability of silt particles. If no additional silt particles become available along the bed, the deposition reduces exponentially along the bed. The half-life for staying in suspension is proportional to the water depth and inversely proportional to the settling velocity of the silt particles.
