Master's thesis examines the role of architecture in the process of providing humanitarian aid to asylum seekers and their integration into society. The main objective of the work is to create a centralized multifunctional urban concept that would not only ensure a suitable program for the needs of IDPs, but also create an attractive and civically important place that promotes the creation of connections and hosting environment in order to reduce the social exclusion of IDPs in the society. The project is located in the old town of Vilnius, Drujos st., where the formation of buildings volumes and materiality are affected by the stylistics of the old town. The site provides necessary functions for IDP’s integration - from registration, health care, accommodation, catering, to education, employment and leisure. This project presents a promising alternative solution to the IDP problem, where asylum architecture is used to increase the efficiency of support, integration and resilience.
