Microsimulation in Nordic Social Policy Analysis
Microsimulation models have internationally become important tools for policy formation and evaluation within the welfare policy area. NOSOSCO is currently undertaking work on incorporating microsimulations as a part of its tasks. The articles published below are two aspects of this work. The use of microsimulation models are currently an established practice in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The first article, by Elina Pylkkänen, concerns a policy experiment conducted with the joint use of the microsimulation models in these four countries. The second article is a report delivered by ProPublic Ldt. following workshops in Iceland and the Faroe Islands in November 2015, covering general ideas behind microsimulation models. One aim of these workshops was to explore the possibilities for Iceland and the Faroe Islands to establish similar models. It is the hope of NOSOSCO that these articles would contribute to the further development of analytical tools within the Nordic cooperation on welfare statistics, the aim of which is to provide a still better comparative basis for policy decisions in our countries.
