Protected areas - land and water areas set clear boundaries, with a recognized scientific, ecological, cultural and other values and which by law special protection and recovery mode. Lithuania protected areas network is quite extensive and covers almost 15% of the country, Kaunas region, even this area is 33.52%, which is even more than the European Union average, which is 18%. The analysis of Lithuanian and cross-country experience suggests that the global system of conservation areas is becoming more sophisticated and better developed. Protected areas are slowly becoming an integrated part of nature, an integral part of their treatment than from the single country than from land use or farm sector policy, agricultural sector planning, and hence on regional planning. Protected Areas Authority in managing these areas are faced with many economic and social problems. State parks on the landscape and biodiversity importance of natural and cultural heritage location of imbalances, the universal value of natural resources and human activities inevitably overlap, intersect, and the use of conservation interest. Although the analysis showed that the majority of Kaunas region's natural heritage sites in good condition and satisfactory, but the economic development faces a possible loss of protected natural and cultural heritage values, lack of originality and attractiveness diminish the recreational, aesthetic and other resources, landscape degradation may occur and other undesirable processes. It is therefore necessary to draw public attention to these outstanding issues, to raise environmental consciousness level, using European Union structural funds.
