Assessment of onshore wind farm sustainability
Wind farming has become one of the primary sources of energy. It is one type of green source of energy, which makes it friendly to the environment. In general, sustainable system is a system that has good impacts on the environment as well as on society and economy. A wind farm requires a vast area for its construction. It has impact on its surrounding area. Our objective is to assess the sustainability of onshore wind farms in environment, social, and economic aspects. The assessment framework is developed based on game theory and Human Development Index (H.D.I.). Game theory is used to define players and their strategies. In our work, the players of this game are environment, social and economy. Payoff calculation helped us to give motivation to each player and assign unit and values. H.D.I. is used to normalize the values of payoff calculation and geometric means. It gives us values in one single unit and makes the comparison meaningful. At last, we used two onshore wind farms for case study, and the results showed that the assessment method is applicable when necessary data is available.
