OR Z/As .6Or4/1588 :968 ; 33 ; Includes map. ; "The primary purposes and reasons for the adoption of this ordinance are as follows: (a) Because of its setting, climate, park system, historical landmarks, Oregon Shakespearean Festival, Southern Oregon College and other business and cultural assets, The City of Ashland attracts many visitors each year, and (b) The beauty and distinctive characteristics or the community must be enhanced in order to encourage and stimulate the economic and cultural growth of the City, and (c) The citizens of the community, individually and through the municipal government, have recently united to more effectively realize the objectives of the community by the ad*opt ion of a comprehensive zoning plan, land use plan, the Central Area Plan, the reconstruction of Siskiyou Boulevard, the extension of the park system and the expansion of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival Theatre complex, and (d) It is necessary to have adequate sign control and regulation in order to minimize safety hazards to the motorists and general public and to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the general public."
