Cadastrial measurements at present rise in importance. Their importance will especially increase after the 1st of January, 2008, when they will become compulsory in all cases. The author in the article reviews tendences of the quantity of geodesically measured land plots during the last five years in Alytus district. Their quantity is analysed according to the purpose and character. Geodesical measurements of house domain purpose land plots and problems occurring during their measurement are analysed separately. Also the problems that can occur after the end of land reform are discussed. Legal regulation of preliminary and cadastrial measurements, qualification requirements for specialists forming land plots are reviewed. Examples of specific problems occurring while performing cadastrial measurements are given, and their ways of solution are discussed.
