Applegate Lake recreation plan: Rogue River National Forest

This plan was done by the Forest Service in cooperation with the Army Corps of Engineers. The process of forming this plan included an in depth environmental and social analysis, development of alternatives and public involvement. The objective of the recreation program for the lake is to basically provide opportunities for day-use activities in a quiet environment with low-speed boat fishing with a 10 mph speed limit proposed for most of the lake. The Squaw Creek arm of the lake will be restricted to non-motorized boats. A year round fishing season is proposed. Initial recreation development includes a boat launch area, a swimming area, a horse staging area, two picnic areas, five boat-in/walk-in camps, an outdoor study area and administrative site. A campground is proposed for future development. Described in this report are the planning process methodology, analysis findings and a detailed section on implementing the recreation program" P. iii [5].
