Architecture of block ‘West’ partizans Square in Užice (1961)
Blok ‘West’ at the Partisans Square in Užice was built in 1961 according to the project of archtect Stanko Mandić. Project program, after which he was made, comprising residential and business functions as well as the complex relationship between the building and the sqaure. The building has a basis in the form of the Cyrillic letter P, number of storeys Ground floor + 6, comprising 160 apartments, which were built according to the new Decision of the local government on the minimum flat organization. Construction of the building is reinforced concrete skeleton, with walls in brick. Well resolved organization, construction and form represents one of the most important examples of architecture of Modern in Serbia and Yugoslavia.
