Secondary stresses in parallel wire suspension cables
Working stress in parallel wire cable is normally based on average stress across section of cable; paper analyzes variation of stress across section, caused by deflection of cable; influence of clamping bands and of tensioned wire wrapping are considered; numerical examples show that secondary stresses may be important part of effects of live loading.
