Ultimate strength of over-reinforced beams
Flexural strength of rectangular reinforced concrete beams controlled by compression is investigated analytically, using stress distribution derived from experimental stress-strain curves; empirical expression for ultimate bending moment is presented and calculated moments of 59 test beams that failed in compression are compared with ultimate test moments.
