Dynamic analysis of elastic-plastic frames
Method for computation of dynamic response of multistory elastic-perfectly plastic frames is based on model in which mass of frame is assumed to be concentrated at floor levels; flexibility of model is same, member for member, as actual structure; equations of motion are written in terms of deflections at floor levels and solved by single-step forward integration procedure; in formulation of structural resistance, combined yielding of beams and columns is taken into account, and dynamic response curves are shown for several examples; application of method is extended to analysis of statically loaded elastic-plastic frames.
