Inflammability of plastics and treatments for preventing this hazard are discussed; plastic insulation of electric conductors can be hazardous if wrong plastic or plasticizer is selected, but is similar in this respect to natural or synthetic rubber; approximately 50% of fires in Netherlands are attributed to leakage of electric currents to ground, danger that can be reduced by encasing free conductors in plastic tubes.
