A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Logical testing and design approach for rigid airport paving is reported; formulation, design, and testing procedures are developed for stiff airport paving or stiff subbase; novel design features are presented; Westergaard's subgrade modulus is converted to fixed elastic modulus; stiff materials, such as soil-cement or stabilized base, are tested by beam; flexible materials and soils are tested by designed triaxial tests; pavements are designed against overstress and excessive deflection; stiff pavement design for light aircraft with low tire pressure.
