A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Pilot study to identify modifications of amber period duration, transverse pavement markings, and supplemental advanced signing; zone problem for minimum amber periods was extensively researched; it was found that increasing amber phase at urban location from 3 to 5 sec increased percentage and at rural location from 5 to 7 sec decreased percentage of motorists operating in unsafe or unexpected manner; installation of experimental transverse pavement markings at rural location increased percentage of unsafe operation.
