Effect of pore pressures on undrained strength of varved clay
Triaxial shear tests, using lateral filters to facilitate pore-pressure equalization between layers, were carried out on consolidated-undrained samples of natural varved clay obtained from borehole at New Liskeard, Ont; during triaxial shear, higher pore pressure developed within more clayey layer than within more silty layer of varved soil; simplified theory is given to support experimental observations.
