On soil and its constructional properties at saimaa canal construction in finland
Present construction work of Saimaa canal in southeastern Finland, soil at building site and earth structures in connection with this work; structures, canal excavations and rock cuts were inspected, and when discovering reasons for landslides occurring in connection with these cuts, anisotropy of clay in question has become apparent; in addition to earth excavations, slope protection was also examined; observations on use of varved glacial clay in earth dams were submitted.
