A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Technical methods devised during recent years to determine mechanical properties of rocks for dam foundations, underground projects (tunnels, pressure tunnels, underground power plants), and slope stability; laboratory tests for measuring compressive strength and creep, hardness, permeability (with special reference to changes of permeability with applied stresses), alterability, and particular case of stratified materials; in situ tests are reviewed; design of underground structures and methods of measuring pressures on linings in different types of rock; information on stability of slopes in rock.
