Laboratory studies of skid resistance of concrete
Procedures are developed for evaluating potential skid resistance of concrete aggregates (from 20 sources throughout 10 states) prior to casting pavement and for beneficiation of aggregates that polish readily; effects of finish, exposed coarse aggregates, aggregate size, and abrasives on skid resistance of pavements are assessed; methods for restoring friction characteristics to worn or smooth concrete; petrographic description is given for each of fine aggregates.
