Foundation of deep water quay in harbour of bakar
Choice of possible foundation alternatives for 460 m long quay with 15.5 m of water depth was limited to drilled piles; piles were mainly carried out with Benoto rig with diameter of 118 cm and design load of 380 tons; piles were drilled and concreted from floating platforms; depth of piles was between 2.5 and 15.0 below soil surface depending on soil properties; stability of slopes was studied in order to ensure safe storage area for 350,000 tons of ore and allow for safe establishment of necessary railroad tracks, installations and roads.
