Effect of temperature on state of stress in linings of pit shafts; concrete lining in vertical mine shaft has to be designed not only to withstand pressure of rock surrounding shaft but also thermal stresses resulting from difference in temperature between air in shaft and undisturbed rock; equations are presented which enable calculation of thermal stresses and are explained on hypothetical example from practice.
