Brittle fracture of iron alloyed with nickel; influence of nickel on mechanical properties and type of fracture of Fe-Ni alloys melted from refined carbonyl iron of high purity; chemical composition of melts is given; series of impact bending tests was conducted; examination of fractures of samples tested at -196 C showed that with 1 to 2.2% Ni fracture pattern is mainly transcrystalline with higher nickel concentrations type of fracture changes, becoming mainly intercrystalline.
