Nomographs tell firing behavior
In determining firing behavior of clay progressive changes in porosity, volume, specific gravity, hardness, and absorption may be determined for various degrees of heat treatment; nomographs developed for use with data obtained in standard firing behavior tests described in Standards Report of Am Cer Soc (ACS Yearbook, 1921-22) for percent absorption, bulk specific gravity, and percent apparent porosity; numerical limits established cover most useful ranges of data.
