Measurement of heat required in firing clays
Study of previous attempts to determine heats of decomposition of "clay molecule"; theoretical and practical work of A.E.MacGEE (see Am Cer Soc -- J 1926 p 206) and of W.M.COHN (ibid 1924 p 359) have been repeated to obtain quantitative thermal values for firing of raw clays; it is shown to what extent inherent difficulties in methods preclude quantitative acuracy; rough values of heat required to fire certain ceramic raw materials.
