Bailey bridge over Whiteadder water, Northumberland
Semipermanent road bridge consisting of five Bailey spans on wooden piled piers, constructed to replace permanent bridge washed away in floods of Aug 1948; building and launching of bridge took 2 1/2 working days; "broken span" design achieved by coupling only bottom chords at junctions of five spans.
