Ventilating Dartford Tunnel
Upward semi-transverse ventilating system was adopted for tunnel under River Thames, England, completed in second half of 1963; tunnel has 2 ventilating stations, located close to portals; feature of ventilation stations is architectural treatment of exhaust chimneys in which no attempt was made to mask functional form of discharge shaft; operation and control of system is described.
