A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
New road crossing of Thames in Long Reach is described; tunnel and its approach roads form north-south link about 4 mi long between London-Tilbury road, A13, and London-Rochester road, A2, and will form cross-river connection between future North and South Orbital Roads at distance of about 15 mi from central London; present single tunnel provides roadway 21 ft wide, accommodating one line of traffic in each direction; approach roads comprise 2 24-ft wide roadways; design allows for future duplication of tunnel, if necessary. (see also abstract in Surveyor v 122 Apr 27 1963 p 558-60)
