Dredge fill for scenic freeway
Almost 10,000,000 cu yd of embankment, most of it dredged, will be required for first 14-mi of new Columbia River highway; dredged fill placed in river is held in place by rock toe wall; dredge is powered by 3700 hp Diesel electric motor-generator sets; production has been as high as 35,000 cu yd a day; terraces are formed by track laying tractor equipped with bulldozer.
