Roof reconstruction at New Street Station, Birmingham
Arch type overall roof built nearly century ago, damaged by aircraft, has been replaced by individual platform roofs; illustrated description of demolition of old roof and traveling gantries employed; temporary roof over each platform, erected as soon as possible after each stage of demolition, consists of corrugated asbestos cement sheeting, interspersed with Perspex sheets to admit daylight.
