Beach park growing with fill from new Los Angeles sewage plant site
14,000,000 cu yd of sand from site of Hyperion, Calif sewage treatment plant is being used to build up new beach; 30,000 cu yd are pumped every day to fill beach up to 4 ft above high tide; sand dunes are sluiced down with high pressure monitor jets and washed into collection box; Venturi jet in eductor keeps collection box from clogging.
