Construction of pre-stressed concrete road at Crawley new town
Design of 404-ft road based mainly on principle that residual prestress of 100 psi should remain in concrete after allowances for subgrade restraint; Freysinnet method was used; measurements of movement indicate that expansion of road does not warrant special form of expansion joint; cost is comparable with that of normal construction.
