Pipeline bridge stabilized with diagonal rope stays
Bridge which carries natural gas pipe line over Coosa River near Clayton, Ala, has 700-ft span; aerodynamic vertical oscillations necessitated stabilization of bridge; solution was to install light system of diagonal wire rope stays so as to form trussing between each main cable and suspended pipe line; present maximum of amplitude is fraction of inch.
