Los Angeles constructs 2000-car underground garage
Three-story underground garage can accommodate 5000 cars per day; lowest floor is 35 ft below street level; floor system is "haunched slab," 5 1/2 to 16 1/2 in. thick supported by 26-in. round columns spaced 27 ft on centers both ways; roof slab is 2 ft 3 in. thick at columns and tapers to 9 in. thick; illustrated description of execution of work.
