Welded steel box girders used for three bridges in Washington
Thin steel plates are welded into rectangular box girders; Portage Canal highway bridge with 22-ft concrete roadway, is deck girder structure with spans 40 ft cantilever, 170, 250, 170 and 40 ft cantilever; joints in flange and web plates were staggered; transverse joints, made perpendicular to longitudinal axis, are of standard butt type.
