Springfield, Ill., has two intercepting sewers, one on each side of city and aggregating 20 miles in length; interceptor comprises 47 spans, each 45 ft. long and is carried at average of 7 ft. above ground level by means of concrete pier bents; special features of field operations on this project were handling of wooden forms for sewer trestle structure.
