Isherwood steel hatchway cover
New hatchway cover, invention of Joseph Isherwood and manufactured by Clarke, Chapman and Co; basic principle is substitution for wood covers of interchangeable plate covers made from mild steel, each plate being flanged at sides and ends. (see also Engineer v 158 n 4116 Nov 30 1934 p 549)
