Problems in design, Bonnet Carre spillway
Design of spillway structure 28 mi. west of New Orleans which will be 7500 ft. long; water will be discharged into controlled floodway 6 mi. in length and 8000 to 12000 ft. in width, emptying into Lake Pontchartrain; side levees for floodway will be 12 to 19 ft. high; hydraulic and foundation conditions affecting design of spillway dam containing 330 steel gates, each 20 ft. wide; prevention of percolation under structure.
