Details are given of first welded steel road bridge in Europe erected for Polish Government near Lowicz, over river Sludwia; it has total width of 10 m. and clear span of 26 m.; footpaths are carried on brackets on outsides of two main girders; cross beams were calculated as semi-rigid fixed beams; material of bridge is mild steel with ultimate tensile strength of 3700-4200 kilos. per sq. cm. and minimum elongation of 20 per cent; specifications are given for arc-welded construction.
