The San Leandro earth dam of the Oakland water works
An illustrated description of a high earth dam originally built in 1874-5, but since raised to a height of 125 ft. above the original surface, 155 ft. above the bottom of the central puddle trench, and 158 ft. above the bottom of the concrete-filled secondary trenches. A large part of the embankment was sluiced in by the hydraulic process. (1600 w.)
