Reinforced concrete bridges of very long span
Critical discussion of paper by E. FREYSSINET, indexed in Engineering Index 1930, p. 228, from Societe des Ingenieurs Civils de France -- Memoires et Compte Rendu des Travaux; cost of temporary work for important spans, which has been often unduly high, because sufficient attention was not paid to design, is one cause of comparatively slow increase in span of concrete bridges; question received careful consideration in case of concrete viaduct at Elorn-Plougastel; weight of reinforced-concrete arch of great span would be hardly half that of equivalent steel arch and cost considerably lower.
