Rectangular concrete beams were tested to destruction under combined bending and torsional loads; beams contained only longitudinal reinforcement, and concrete strength, amount of reinforcement, and moment-torque ratios were varied; theoretical model was developed from observed failure mechanisms, and was used to check test results.
